It's that time of year, baseball reaches a fever pitch and football has kicked off-- and the men seem to disappear to the couch. And even if sports aren't his thing, we want to give a little love to the guys and their man caves this month. Bring on the leather, the rich tones, and bro time far away from the ladies.
Man Caves
The Saturdays are for the boys, and since the world of design can tend to fall to the girls (sorry!), August called for a special space for just the guys. As sports season swells, we are diving into making that sometimes rejected space the room of oozing testosterone. Since man caves tend to fall in the basement, garage apartment, old guest room categories, we love the ways you can spice up a space by adding depth to your ceiling by vaulting it with warm wooden beams, adding shiplap, or even painting over exposed ducts for that lofty urban feel. Texture doesn't have a ceiling though. Leather, wool, thick linens, and even turf have a way of making man space a masculine retreat.
Sports memorabilia might be the rejected decor item of bachelor pads, but in man caves, single or married, let the athletics come front and center. Putting greens and framed jerseys are just the start, we think the baseball diamonds and favorite fan chairs, to even using old stadium seats for seating is a fabulous way to make your space personal.
