Love us some leather. This month we are putting leather On the Pedestal, and maybe making a pedestal, a couch, a chair, and dining chairs out of this supple but strong material. We love that leather, like a fine wine, gets better with age. Fall is a fabulous time to explore with leather details in your spaces, or go all out in that classic, strong look. Autumn and winter call for leather pieces in your wardrobe. Jackets, pants, boots, and even dresses are lovely in leather.
There aren't many better smells than a whiff of good leather. And like a fine wine, the good stuff only gets better with time and love. Leather is timeless but unstuffy. We love the way it wraps itself around a piece or works as a unexpected accent in piping or a pillow. And the way it holds color! Like this nursery with the baby pink ottoman! Leather works in gorgeous neutrals and just as naturally can be fabulous in a more unexpected shade. We are particularly please to see mustard, evergreen, and burgundy shades of leather as we approach fall; but we aren't beholden to a season with this textile!
CDB Interiors doesn't shy away from innovative leather uses. We used leather tile in a dentist office to give something potentially plain a whole new contemporary vibe. We also took a traditional kitchen with a French banquette and added this modern leather to keep it grounded. We adored this leather sectional in a high rise penthouse. Leather shouldn't be overlooked, it can bring its surroundings to centerstage or it can steal the spotlight.
And with the slow turn to fall, it's time to change out our cotton and linen breezy pieces. Leather is ready to come out of the bullpen. There is nothing more stylish than a leather jacket. Throw it on with jeans, with a ballgown, with a simple floral dress (which is an easy way to transition those florals from summer to fall!). Leather jackets should be a closet staple. But don't limit leather's purview. Leather cuff bracelets and leather lariat necklaces are a edgier way to mix up an outfit. Feeling bold? A leather dress is the peak of chic. Keep it classy with long sleeves and a sheath fit and you will be the belle of any ball. Wear a leather dress with loafers and a silk scarf for a daytime, office-ready look; or throw on with your favorite suede pumps for a cocktail party.
